When you walk across a meadow at most times of the year, all you are faced with is a sea of green. However, if you look at just the right time, you see something magical. A carpet of colours explodes into life before your eyes, and you forget all about the monotones of green that were there before.
The same is true when you look at someone’s life. If you meet them at the wrong moment, their life can seem mundane and colourless. However everyone’s life bursts into colour on occasion and, if you meet them then, their life can seem so exciting. You can hardly believe there is any normality at all. 
In the same way the colours of a wildflower meadow fade each year to be replaced once again by grass, the highlights of our lives should not be seen as the norm either. If the meadow was covered in flowers all year round the annual spectacle of flowering would not be so awe-inspiring. It is the regularity of our everyday lives that provides the contrast to the occasional explosion of colour which makes them so exciting and memorable.
